Who we are
Riverside Music is a teaching studio, a community centre, and a retail store with a passion to nurture joy in music and the arts.
We are driven to be a learning centre and a place for people to gather around music and the arts. By providing instruments and accessories, our retail store serves as a resource and a support for people to enjoy and create music.
The product lines we carry are focused on providing service and affordability for everyone, with a special emphasis on the
needs of intermediate and beginner music students. High priced items that we do not have in stock can be ordered.
Our facility at 16 Dundas St. West in Trenton, Ontario provides studio space for both private and group lessons, as well as a large room for concerts, rehearsals or community groups, and a full-service repair shop in addition to the retail store.
Owners Jason & Christy Wryghte
We are grateful to our many supporters, students, families, and customers who enable us to serve the community. It is a pleasure and a blessing to be involved in our community in this way.
A Family Business
Jason and Christy Wryghte are both professional teachers. Jason has also been involved in music all his life. He has taught privately and in public studios for many years, taught instrumental music at the intermediate level for more than 20 years, directed school musicals, and performed with community bands, in community theatre, and as part of gospel music groups “The Crusaders” and “Raw Gospel.” Christy loves to play flute, and has taught mainly science and mathematics at the high school level. They live here in Trenton with their three awesome kids.
We offer March Break and Summer Day Camps, where music themes dominant the days, and fun is the name of the game. Our excellent staff is carefully chosen and trained to help make these holiday times special for all the kids that come.
We also have an active scholarship program which provides discounted lessons and instruments for children in need. Occasionally we receive donations of money or instruments from members of the community who want to support this effort.
Riverside Music intentionally finds ways to contribute in the community.
We facilitate consignment sales of professional artwork and musical instruments, and local musicians are able to sell their CD’s at our store and receive 100% of the proceeds.
We regularly retain co-op students, as Riverside seeks to partner with local high schools and help provide training for these important young people.
Several community groups hold their rehearsals at Riverside, including a community hymn sing, a men’s gospel music chorus (Raw Gospel), and the Quinte Ukulele Club.
